NEWSLETTER 01-2018: EQUALITY OF EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYEES
On October 12, 2017, the National Council decided on equal treatment for workers and employees, with significant changes coming into force on July 1, 2018. This will lead to changes in particular to the provisions regarding continued payment of wages and those regarding the termination of employment relationships.
The changes will have a significant impact on practice, as in particular the current system of continued payment of wages for employees will be reorganized.
The harmonization of the rights of workers and employees will essentially come into force on July 1, 2018 and January 1, 2021, respectively. The National Council resolution significantly changes the continued payment system for employees and increases protection against dismissal for workers.
