NEWSLETTER 01-2022: THE NEW WARRANTY LAW: A FIRST OVERVIEW
In the summer of 2021, the legislature passed the new Warranty Directive Implementation Act (GRUG). This will result in a comprehensive reform of Austrian warranty law and in particular the creation of a new Consumer Warranty Act (VGG).
The new legal situation already appliesfrom January 1st, 2022.
At the turn of the year, a new warranty law came into force, which was implemented primarily in the new Consumer Warranty Act (VGG). The VGG applies to contracts concluded between entrepreneurs and consumers regarding the purchase of goods and the provision of digital content. At the same time, there are selective adjustments to the General Civil Code (ABGB) and the Consumer Protection Act (KSchG).
