At the beginning of 2025, the 2024 Cooperative Societies Amendment Act (Genossenschaftsrechts-Änderungsgesetz 2024, GenRÄG 2024 for short) comes into force. On the one hand, this brings the possibility of converting associations into cooperatives while preserving their identity, and on the other hand, it brings some changes to the law on cooperatives itself. The possibility of restricting or even completely excluding the obligation to make additional contributions in the articles of association should be emphasized.
