The amendment is intended to amend the building regulations for Vienna, the Vienna Allotment Garden Act 1996, the Vienna Garage Act 2008, the Water Supply Act and the Vienna Housing Promotion and Residential Renovation Act 1989.

 

The review period for the amendment to the building regulations expired on September 13, 2018. After discussion in the housing committee at the end of October, small corrections were made. The legislative process is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. An initiative proposal to protect Wilhelminian style houses has already been accepted in advance.

In June of this year, the protection of Europe’s largest existing building stock was ensured in the Vienna building regulations. According to the new regulation, the city must check whether there is a public interest in preserving a Wilhelminian style building.
